CLIENT : PUMA

PROJECT : HOOPS CLYDE BARGE

AGENCY : HELO

An old junk barge turned into an unbeatable pickup game of streetball for Puma.Named after the fashion icon and Knicks great Clyde Frazier, Puma debuted the “Clyde” sneaker 50 years ago and the worlds of fashion, basketball, and sneaker culture were forever changed. The shoe became synonymous with the late 70s pickup basketball and the early stages of hip-hop/b-boy culture. Paying homage to that timeless and classic “Clyde” silhouette from the 1970s, Puma updated the shoe to include cutting edge technology and materials while keeping the integrity of the classic model.

To celebrate the debut of the new Puma “Clyde Courts” and the kickoff of the 2019 NBA season, HELO, in partnership with the creative agency Nowadays, built a regulation-size basketball court on a refurbished junk barge and docked it at Brooklyn Bridge Park. There, we invited attendees to throw on some new Clyde Court’s and challenge local streetball legends to a series of games, culminating in a dunk contest to win $20,000.

The contest was judged by Jalen Rose (NBA/ESPN), Kevin Knox (New York Knicks), and Chris Brickley (world-famous trainer to NBA stars). VIP and Influencer talents were able to sip cocktails, mingle, and watch the entire day of activities from a yacht docked directly next to the Barge. Exclusive Rowing Blazers x Puma collab time capsule packs were given to the first 100 in attendance.
